A SUSTAINABLE APICULTURE AND AGRICULTURE MODEL THAT EMPOWERS PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES. Founded by Local Village Africa, this innovation opens up socio-economic opportunities for people living in remote and rural communities by establishing beekeeping enterprises. As part of this, training in hive manufacturing is provided for persons with disabilities to enable them to form part of the value chain. Manufacturing facilities are set up, trainees are equipped with implements, and the newly constructed hives are purchased and distributed to the bee-keeping businesses. This simple solution creates an inclusive society where the whole community can mutually benefit and participate, and positively impacts the natural environment.
