HyHarvest, founded by Zandile Kumalo, specialises in hydroponics, vertical farming, and climate-smart Agri-Tech solutions. The company transforms unused urban spaces like rooftops and schoolyards into productive farming areas, growing fresh, nutritious vegetables with up to 90% less water than traditional farming. Through partnerships with educational institutions and property developers, HyHarvest is cultivating both food and future farmers. They provide training to school learners and youth in smart Agri-Tech hydroponics farming, having upskilled over 36 individuals to date. With projects in under-resourced areas, schools, and shopping centres, HyHarvest is creating jobs, closing the knowledge gap, and making fresh produce more accessible to communities, while proving that technology can help fight hunger and food insecurity.
